At the 2013 Detroit Motor Show, the German carmaker has taken the Chattanooga-built Passat and transformed it into the the "Passat Performance Concept".

This is not, however, a Passat GTI by any means. Instead, what we’re looking at is a glorified mid-seze cruiser. It features 19-inch wheel, revised headlights with Advanced Front Lighting System (AFS), LED taillights and dual exhaust.

The good news is there’s something interesting under the bonnet, the newest generation of 1.8-liter TSI, producing no less than 247 hp (250 PS), about the same as a Golf R, but from a smaller displacement.

autoevolution will be attending the 2013 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
