Volkswagen Golf VII Spotted Testing in China
The importance of the new Golf is for the German carmaker. It's their first car built using the new MQB platform, which makes it lighter and thus a bit faster and more efficient.
The European model we saw at the Paris Motor Show last year also represented a huge leap in terms of build quality. It's right up there with luxury vehicles from lesser manufacturers.
In China, the Golf VII will be built by the FAW-Volkswagen joint venture later this year. The current 122 hp 1.4 TSI will still be offered, but rumor has it the old 1.6 will finally be replaced by the 1.2 TSI engine, producing 85 hp in the base model or 105 for better equipped grades.
