We've spent years laughing at the Chinese car clones, but we're at a point where the Chinese might as well laugh at us. Buick sells about 80% of its cars there and traditional European brands like Volkswagen or Skoda are doing very well.
Most models are now locally assembled, but this one isn't. It's too rare for that. The R20 version of the Golf, seen here in the Sanlitun area of Beijing, is now an old car, but in China it's still very expensive.

So considering the fact that this owner probably payed at least $60,000 for this ride, we're not surprised that he's wealthy enough to also buy a professional wrapping. Chameleon-style vinyl that goes from violet to green has somewhat fallen out of favor in Europe, but it's still a good finish for Vdub tuning.

We have to show our appreciation for this VW fan, who ignored all the long wheelbase cars on the market and went for something with authentic curb appeal.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
