Volkswagen has confirmed that the CrossBlue Coupe concept will make its North American debut at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show later this month.
Unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show in April, the CrossBlue Coupe concept was developed on the company’s new MQB platform and sports a plug-in hybrid powertrain that combines a turbocharged V6 gasoline engine and two electric motors for a maximum output of 415 horsepower.

The SUV can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in only 5.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 147 miles per hour, while returning a combined fuel consumption of 70 MPGe. In hybrid mode, the vehicle has a “theoretical range” of around 570 miles.

“The disproportionate growth in the SUV segment gives designers the opportunity to implement an even greater diversification of models. The CrossBlue Coupe shows the potential of our Volkswagen design DNA and will undoubtedly have an influence on future SUV models,” said Klaus Bischoff, head of design for the Volkswagen brand.

More info on the Volkswagen CrossBlue Coupe concept is available in the press release below.
