Volkswagen California Black Edition Launched in Germany

The German manufacturer Volkswagen is kind of busy these days, leaving the talks with Porsche aside and referring straight to product launches. No matter if we're talking about special or limited editions, new models or concept cars, Volkswagen seems to be fully focused on its product range, as lots of VW-branded cars hit the market during the last few days. This time, the company debuts the so-called California Black Edition, a limited edition model based on Volkswagen's commercial vans series.

As you can see in the adjacent photo, the car is, just like its name suggests, painted in black with most of its elements more or less covered in the same color. The tail lights have been darkened as well to match the exterior outfit while the 18-inch alloy wheels have been customized with a slight dark finish.

There are several chromed elements as well, including the grille which gives the car a bit more shiny and aggressive stance on the road. Other exterior highlights include bi-xenon headlights and tinted windows.

As with the interior, there are lots of new things inside too, with leather and Alcantara upholstery creating a comfortable atmosphere for the driver and passengers. Tri-zone climate control, GPS navigation system, electrically-controlled roof and park assistance with rear view camera are also included in the package.

There is a single engine configuration available that produces 130 horsepower (96 kW). Unfortunately, the price is one of the main things that makes the car special, with the California Black Edition sold for a whopping 77,736.75 euros in Germany. More photos are yet to be released.
