Volkswagen Blue Sport Might Be Cancelled
text size: A- A+
This coldness is what’s keeping VW from giving the world a production version of the Blue Sport. The Germans have delayed the introduction of a reasonably-priced mid-engined roadster multiple times, acting as if they had to decided the fate of the world.
Well, guess what? VW is once again weighing the options, as the company thinks that it own’t find enough customers for such a vehicle.
VW has an ambitious plan to become the number one carmaker by 2018, which means that it wants to focus on sales, not new models. It seems that the main problem comes from the US, the world’s largest sports car market, where VW being worried that the vehicle won’t register the sales is needs to justify its production.
The company says that the tech development of the Blue Sport has already been carried out, but the vehicle needs a solid business case to enter production. Of course, this also affects the situation of the Audi and Porsche sister models.
Our say: VW will probably achieve its goal and become Number One, but it will all be similar to Michael Schumacher’s way of achieving points rather than winning hearts.

With all the attention the Bluesport drew at the Detroit car show in 2009, it's hard to see how it could become anything but a success. I've been waiting to place my order for one since then, and will be very disappointed if VW don't take it to production. C'mon VW, live dangerously!
