Vettel: Power Boost Will Only Help RBR
“The fact that Renault is allowed to do something to its engine will certainly be no disadvantage and will only help us. But to be honest the differences between the engines last year were quite limited. I don't think that just one thing will make a difference. F1 is all about details - it's about the whole car,” said Vettel in an interview for autosport.com site.
Renault were recently granted slight modifications to their power plant by the FIA – increasing engine power by almost 30 hp – in order to equalize engine performances inside the F1 paddock. RBR have also used Renault engines in 2008, as compared to Toro Rosso's Ferrari units. Actually, this was the main excuse used by Red Bull to justify their losing to Toro Rosso in the overall constructors' classification.
Vettel also revealed that he's very confident ahead of the 2009 season, as the racing environment and philosophy are completely different as compared to the one at Toro Rosso. While having to adjust to a completely new crew and car, Vettel believes it will be up to him to prove himself in 2009.
“There are many more people working here at Red Bull, and there a lot of people with great potential. Red Bull is a new team for me. We may have the same parent company, but it's a completely different environment, atmosphere and philosophy. These things you need to get used to. Red Bull Racing has a lot of potential and it is up to us, as team and driver, to produce it,” added Vettel.
