Velocipede-Fogliaverde E-Bikes Are Painfully Elegant and Don't Need Recharging

A bold statement of form mixed with function, Velocipede-Fogliaverde's two debut models are a breath of fresh air in the segment. Manufactured to replicate the stylish, fashionable vibe of the retro bikes, the Piacevole Corsa and La Specialist Ruggine are authentic luxury vehicles.

City bikes, per se, these two pedelecs ooze exuberance but don't miss out the prerequisites that make them as functional as they are beautiful. They are equipped with a lockable leather tool box attached to the leather seat, a parking lock neatly tucked away in a special leather bag attached to the seat tube, wooden mudguards, and front and rear racks.

The handlebars are also covered in leather straps and come with reverse brake levers, just like back in the day. Old-school-looking elastic cords are also part of the standard trim, helping you strap your cargo onto the luggage racks in style.

Tipping the scales at only 18.7 kg (41 lbs) and capable of a top assisted speed of 25 km/h (16 mph), Velocipede-Fogliaverde's e-bikes are equipped with a rear hub motor and a 160 Wh battery. One of the coolest features is that the smart algorithms of the 250 W motor allow it to use kinetic energy to charge the battery. When set to the hybrid Bike+ mode, these bikes will regenerate energy when braking, traveling at a higher constant speed or downhill.

Depending on how one rides, the Velocipede-Fogliaverde e-bikes might not need too much recharging from the wall outlet. Anyway, recharging only takes 2 hours from a casual outlet.

Of course, a dedicated app allows riders to manage their trip data, lock the bike/ motor, access mobility statistics or bike-oriented navigation, online diagnostics and more.

The Velocipede-Fogliaverde machines can be pre-ordered on Kickstarter for an early bird price of CHF 3,200, which equates to $3,285 or €2,950. Definitely not cheap for a bike whose electric side is not exactly top-notch, but if you look closely at the photos after the jump, you'll understand why the price is rather right.
