Valentino Rossi Gets Unusual Recognition

Everybody agrees that bike rider Valentino Rossi is very good at what he does. Even movie superstar Brad Pitt was quoted as saying that he'd give anything to be like the sassy Italian and praised not only his performances on the track but also his spontaneity too.

That being said, Valentino rally is an awesome dude, but no one really knew to honor him until the good people in his hometown decided to do something special. For those of you who are not familiar with the world of motor racing, Valentino comes from a long line of motorcycle champions and has enjoyed success from an early age.

That doesn't mean he doesn't remember where he comes from and he recently donated half a million euros to the municipality of his hometown of Tavullia for improvements on the old cemetery, Then it's no wonder that the people there think enough of him to change the local speed limit from 50 km/h to 46 km/h, the number Rossi races under.

A town official was quoted as saying: “He is the town's most famous son and it is wonderful that he has given us the money. Changing the speed limit is a fitting tribute to a man who has made his fame and fortune entirely out of his skills on the road”.

There is another side to this story though, the fact that some time ago Valentino Rossi was accused by local tax authorities that he had avoided paying tax during a period in which he claimed he lived in England when in fact he was still residing in Italy. This might have been a smart move from his PR department and a nice way to pay his debt while scoring some popularity points back home.
