The first international gathering of electric road-race bikes in the U.S. will take place on July 24-26, at the AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days, at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio.

The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) will be also celebrating its 85 years of two-wheeled history at this event. The zero-emission racebikes will compete in the TTXGP, which will run as part of the AMA Vintage Grand Championship.

"The world's first eGrandPrix will launch clean-emission motorcycle racing onto a global platform and demonstrate to the world that clean technologies have matured. AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days provides us with a fantastic opportunity to take our message directly to the United States, a nation with a passion for motorcycling," said Azhar Hussain, founder of the eGrandPrix.

One of the teams that will compete in the AMA eGrandPrix Introduction is the San Francisco-based Mission Motors. The company developed Mission One, an electric bike that can reach to a top speed of 150mph, featuring a liquid-cooled, 3-phase AC induction engine.

"This is fantastic news and represents a great opportunity for the American public to experience zero-carbon motorcycle racing up close. I believe this event will be the perfect first pit stop for the TTXGP roadshow as it embarks on its global journey,"
said Jeremy Cleland, team leader at Mission Motors.

"The U.S. right now is a hotbed of advancement in electric motorcycle technology with a number of companies, including ourselves, already taking innovation in this area to the next level," Cleland added.

The AMA eGrand Prix Introduction will showcase a number of teams which will take part at the inaugural TTXGP race scheduled on June 12 on the Isle of Man, along with race teams from UK, Italy, India, Germany and Austria.
