The Gear Up Sahara is an on-demand 2WD beast that comes with switchable shaft-drive for the sidecar wheel, and a 4-speed plus reverse manual gearbox. The final drive is, of course, a shaft one, with 42 lb-ft (57 Nm) or torque at 4,300 rpm delivered by the 749cc air-cooled 4-stroke boxer engine.

Also on the figures side, the engine can produce a maximum of 41 horsepower at 5,500 rpm, but which is more than enough to get you out of the tightest situations. Naturally, sidecars come with a lower cruising speed, and Ural recommends that riders keep under 70 mph (112 km/h). The engine is the upgraded version, with both electric and kick start, electronic fuel injection, and a double-disc dry clutch.

The build also integrates adjustable Sachs shock absorbers for both the IMZ leading fork and the single-sided swingarm, plus a 4-pot Brembo caliper in the front, aided by a 2-piston Brembo caliper for the sidecar and an HB rear one, all with NG rotors.

Speaking about the standard equipment list, the Gear Up Sahara brags on the following:
  • On-Demand 2WD
  • Universal Spare Tire & Luggage Rack
  • Sahara Paint
  • Jerry Can
  • Black Engine
  • Utility Shovel
  • Sidecar Bumper
  • Tool Kit
  • Sidecar Spotlight
  • Toolbox Gas Tank
  • Sidecar Accessories Panel (Phone / Tablet Charging)
  • Black Sidecar Cordura Tonneau Cover
  • Rubber Floor + Trunk Mats
  • Sahara Decal and Black Tank Badge.

These are included in the base $17,999 price, but for $1,999, riders can get a ton of cool add-ons for their bike, in the shape of the Upgraded Off-Road Package, that includes:
  • LED Headlight
  • LED Sidecar Fog Lights
  • Givi Windshield
  • Sidecar Light Guards
  • 12V Adapter
  • Sidecar Nose Rack
  • Fender Rack
  • Hand Guards
  • Reverse Foot Pedal
  • Rear Sidecar Bumper
  • Light Rock Guard
  • Spotlight Rock Guard.

Exhausts with black ceramic coating, Heidenau K37 tires and even a Warn winch are also on the options list. The Ural Gear Up Sahara will arrive at dealers this month (June 2016) so it's not too late to plan more adventures this year, even during the fall or winter.
