Upgraded Fiat Grande Punto Abarth SS to Release 200 HP

Following the launch of the Punto Evo, Italian manufacturer Fiat is also preparing to debut the revised Grande Punto Abarth SS, a model that, according to preliminary figures, will output around 200 horsepower. Obviously, this would represent a significant increase of performance, with 0 to 100 km/h to be done in less than 7.5 seconds. According to autoblog.it, the top speed would go around 215 km/h.

Earlier specifications concerning the model prepared for Frankfurt pointed that the car will be powered by a 1.4-liter 16V engine that would also develop 270 Nm of torque at 3,000 rpm. The car is believed to feature a stiffened suspension with new springs which also let the car sit 20 mm lower, 18-inch wheels shoed with 215/40 R18 tires, while the brake system received perforated discs all around and performance pads at the front.

Inside, the Abarth Grande Punto "SuperSport" comes with a wide array of features, including "Abarth Corsa by Sabelt" leather seats and an Abarth Blue&Me MAP satellite navigation unit with a telemetric function developed in collaboration with Magneti Marelli. Beside the classic Abarth colors one would expect from such a model, the Grande Punto "SuperSport" comes in Airfield Grey and a motorsports inspired livery.

Another major upgrade would be represented by the addition of a dual-clutch gearbox supposed to contribute to the efficiency and emission figures of the car.

The full list of specifications, along with pricing and other details regarding the car, are expected to be released in the upcoming weeks.
