Upcoming Toyota Yaris WRC Might Look Like This

Toyota’s run in the World Rally Championship was more like a challenge to boost its confidence. As the team said in 1999 when it decided to quit “all that can be achieved has been achieved”. From loosing, wining and mechanical problems to even cheating with turbo restrictors, the team checked every box out and soon got tired of the sport.

But for a reason or another, Toyota wants now to re-enter WRC and engineers are currently working on a secret Toyota Yaris.

Probably scheduled to re-enter competition in 2016 or 2017 when the WRC new regulations might be applied, the 1.6-liter hatch has already been spotted testing on some gravel roads around Tuscany region in Italy.

But while the spied model could be just a mule, since the Yaris will look different in 2016 than how the one cought was, here’s how Design.RM pictured the car might look with some help from Rallye Magazine. We gotta say their version with all sorts of air inlets and outlets along with flared wheel arches, roll-caged interior and simple spoked rims look pretty damn convincing.

However, in case you want to feel the thrill of a rally, for around €22,500, Toyota Motorsport GmbH already offers a race-spec Yaris R1 with all it needs to attend regional, national and international competitions all the way up to WRC events.
