Ultra Light Alloys Launched in the UK

Starting next month, owners of Porsche, Lexus, BMW, Land Rover, Mercedes, Audi and Infiniti vehicles will benefit from a new range of aftermarket alloy wheels from Solomon Alsberg. The new range, called Eco Super Light, are manufactured in such a way they help improve both the car's performances and its emission levels and fuel consumption.

The Eco Super Light wheels have been tested for the past three years, the manufacturer says, ending with a final product which is 35 percent less than its cast counterpart. This weight improves handling and steering feel and provides faster acceleration.

Although not backed by any tangible data, the wheel maker says the fuel consumption and CO2 emissions levels are reduced by over ten percent when in city driving conditions.

“We’re delighted to be launching such high technology wheels in the UK aftermarket,”
Aleksandr Aksentyev, Solomon Alsberg manager said about the new offering.

“In designing a super light wheel we sought to boost vehicle performance while also recognizing the need to reduce CO2 emissions and help improve fuel economy. It’s very much a twenty-first century product design: efficient and environmentally conscious.”

The wheels will be available for the aforementioned vehicles in sizes 19, 20, 21 and 22 inches. The 19 inch and 20 inch wheels used in testing showed a 2.8 percent improvement in acceleration time.

German specialist TUV tested the wheels and found them to provide a minimum weight saving per wheel of 3.7 kg (compared to the lightest cast equivalent). No prices for the wheels have been announced yet.
