If there’s one tuner in Germany that started working on the BMW M235i as soon as the car was launched, that’s Tuningwerk. The guys have been at it day and night and came up with an impressive product.
Their version of the M Performance Automobile is called BMW M235i RS and differs from the model BMW is offering, called M235i Racing. That one also has a huge fault: it can’t be driven on public roads, as it was designed especially for privateer racing teams.

The Tuningwerk alternative allows you to enjoy your track days in a competitive way and still drive the same car home afterwards without risking going to jail.

That doesn’t mean this is a slightly modified car though. Oh no, it’s a proper track beast. Compared to the stock model it received a large front splitter, a new rear diffuser and an aerodynamic rear wing, all to improve the downforce. Of course, carbon fibre was used extensively here.

The wheels measure 18 inches and are made from a special lightweight allow, to go with the high-performance tires, of course. The engine’s power was taken up to 444 HP, 111 more than what the BMW Racing model makes. There’s also plenty of torque, with the 3-liter turbocharged engine making 600 Nm (442 lb-ft) of it.

To cope with this added HP, the cooling system was also upgraded alongside a new oil pan (made of aluminum) and exhaust system that takes care of the extra fumes.

Inside, you’ll find Recaro sport seats, a sport steering wheel, roll cage and the works to keep you safe on the race track. The 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint is now done in 4.3 seconds, 0.5 seconds faster than the stock M235i.

You didn’t think this was a cheap upgrade, now did you? The total cost of the M235i RS, including the car, is €65,000. Considering the 2er starts at €46,000, it’s not that much more, if you think about. Furthermore, the M235i Racing has a price tag of €73,780 including VAT and it can’t come close to what this thing offers.
