Transformers: The Last Knight is one of the most anticipated movies of 2017. The fifth installment in the live-action saga will see the return of Barricade, one of the most badass Decepticons around.
Josh Duhamel, the American actor who confirmed that he’ll play the role of Lt. William Lennox, tweeted the first photo of the Decepticon that we’ll talk about today. The last time we’ve seen Barricade on the big screen was in Transformers: Dark of the Moon, the third movie in the live-action series. That happened in Anno Domini 2011, a point in time when the Ford Mustang was still in its fifth iteration.
For 2017, Barricade will switch to the sixth-generation Ford Mustang, the one FoMoCo prides itself on because it finally made the switch from a live rear axle to a Fusion-derived independent rear suspension system. Have ever told you I am a sucker for police vehicles?
The Barricade we have here is extremely different from the Saleen S-281E-based Barricade that starred in the 2007 movie. Still, a couple of trademark features carry over: the police-spec push bumpers and the “to punish and enslave” tagline on the rear fenders. Other than that, we have massive vents in the hood, lots of LED lighting, ricer-looking headlight surrounds, and spotlights mounted on the A-pillars.
The 2016 Ford Mustang-based Barricade joins Bumblebee in 2017 Transformers: The Last Knight. The yellow Autobot we all know and love returns in the form of a 2016 Chevrolet Camaro with attitude. As for human roles, the list of actors includes Mark Wahlberg (Cade Yeager), Josh Duhamel (Lt. William Lennox), Peter Cullen (Optimus Prime), and Anthony frigging Hopkins. At this point in time, nobody knows who the 78-year-old actor will be portraying. Except for director extraordinaire Michael Bay and his crew, that is.
