"The recent growth and refinement in ITS technology are great examples of how competitive companies within the auto industry, along with key suppliers and government agencies can work together towards a common goal," said Ed Mantey, Vice President, Engineering Design & Electronics Systems, Toyota Technical Center, TEMA.
"Although many technical, social and regulatory challenges still need to be met, I believe the state of the art on display at this year's Congress will demonstrate how quickly and effectively the industry has progressed in producing a smart mobility model," he added.
Toyota is thought to be the star of the show with 7 ITS demonstrations which will take place on 11th Avenue. The car maker will show off its “smart car” that uses 5.9 GHZ Dedicated Short Range Comunication (DSRC) to create a communication channel between cars and infrastructure. Pedestrian and vehicle collision avoidance sequences, a traffic congestion motoring system that informs the driver of the optimum speed in order to maintain a constant green light traffic signals are key attractions.
Toyota will also participate in eight educational seasons which include parking and pedestrian safety, driver attentiveness, drunk-driving prevention and pre-crash safety systems.
Afterwards, Toyota will host a corporate display, focusing on traffic environment, safety and comfort, through videos, display panels and exhibits. Another thing called the “i-REAL” personal mobility concept vehicle will be a featured exhibit.
This Congress will be held between 16 and 20 November, will feature 200 exhibitors, and will be held at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. It is thought that it will be the largest ever of its kind.
