The annual BrandZ Top 100 Most Valuable Global Brands study has been published, and Toyota is still the leader of the automotive sector.
As some of you know, the BrandZ Top is made by market research company Millward Brown, and it ranks companies based on market value and other factors.

Millward Brown researchers combine measures of brand equity based on interviews with more than two million consumers globally and use data from Bloomberg and Kantar Worldpanel.

This study has been carried out in the past 11 years, and Toyota has managed to receive the first position for nine times.

In this year’s edition, BMW made second place, followed by Mercedes-Benz. BMW’s result was boosted by the launch of the all-new 7 Series last year, as well as the increased popularity of the i range, Automotive News reports.

Meanwhile, its arch-rivals at Mercedes-Benz achieved a boost thanks to the new E-Class, as well as exceptional results on the Chinese market. The Stuttgart automaker achieved the highest rate of increase in value out of any brand in its category.

Other automakers that made the Top 100 of the list are Honda, Ford, and Nissan. Tesla did not make the Top 100 list overall, but managed to enter the Top 10 of the “Car” category for the first time, showing how much the company has grown since last year.

The other automakers that made the Top 10 list in the automotive category in 2016 are Audi, Land Rover, and Porsche. The electric car manufacturer from California entered the survey last year, while Audi was included in 2014.

The results for this year marked the departure of Lexus from the Top 10 by the introduction of Tesla. Porsche also entered the Top 10 this year, but it managed to get the ninth place, just ahead of Tesla Motors in value. The two brands mentioned in the previous sentence did not rank in the top 100 global brands, while Audi did not rank in the top 10 most valuable car brands in 2015.
