In case you're living in California and want to keep the green vibe going by spending money on a Toyota Prius, we have some good news. Lady Luck is smiling at you as Prius prices are being discounted.

As a matter of fact, potential customers can now get the Prius Liftback, C subcompact, V tall wagon and Plug-in Hybrid versions at lowered price tags.

According to CarsDirect, the biggest discount Toyota offers is on the Prius C - $2,000, going up from $750. Taking into account the brand new car usually costs around $20,365 including destination fees, this recent discount is not something one could ignore easily.

The current offer will last until May 4, but Toyota has some more goodies in the bag. All the other earlier-mentioned variants will also receive a $500 price discount, so there's a full month ahead for potential customers to analyze the possibility of buying a Prius.

Moreover, after Toyota's price rebate, the Prius Plug-In Hybrid's overall discount reaches $2,000, just like the Prius C.

We don't know if this move was triggered by the news that Honda Accord replaced the Toyota Prius as California’s bestselling vehicle. Last year, Honda sold 71,578 Accords in California while Toyota sold 71,210 Prius models.

However, carmakers like Ford are also lowering prices for their green models. In order to adapt to the current trends in the United States green car market by, Ford Motor Company decided to cut $900 off the cost of both the Energi plug-in and the standard Fusion Hybrid.
