The robust Land Cruiser is celebrating its 60th birthday and, while some might say this makes it old and outdated, in our eyes it only means that Toyota has had 60 years to get their mighty 4x4 just right. In its long career, the legendary off-roader has conquered the Arctic (and Antarctic) wastes, traversed deserts and plowed its way through tropical rain forests.

In order to celebrate the passing of six decades since the unveiling of the original model, Toyota is launching new top-of-the-range 60th Anniversary versions of both its standard five-door Land Cruiser and the flagship Land Cruiser V8. The two models offer the same toughness that the standard model has to offer, but adds an array of driving and control systems for exceptional on and off-road performance.

The Land Cruiser adds select extra features such as triple-zone climate control air conditioning, rear privacy glass,18-inch alloys, Toyota Easy Flat rear seat system with third row seats (powered), leather upholstery, electric heated front seats, rain-sensing wipers and dusk-sensing headlights. Exteriors of Land Cruiser Anniversary versions are clearly distinguished by the addition of some badges, chrome finish on the exhaust and front fog light surrounds.

Meanwhile, for the Land Cruiser V8, the Anniversary pack adds premium ICE with twin DVD player/monitor tablets, full black leather upholstery, chrome exhaust finisher, chrome side trims and 60th Anniversary badging.

Both models are already available for order in the UK at prices starting from £49,950 ($80,190) for the Land Cruiser 60th Anniversary and £61,950 ($99,500) for the V8 version.
