Toyota GT 86 Promo: Drive with Passion

Yes Toyota, we know cars are supposed to be built with passion, especially sportscars which you, one of the largest automakers in the world didn’t build enough of lately. But the 86, though not that fast or powerful, sounds like a fun little thing on paper, however after so many years of building nothing but cars that are as boring as a food blender, will people really flock to this new coupe.
Certainly the market on boxer engined affordable vehicles has been cornered. But that engine always seems to be the weak link. The 2.0-liter boxer might make 200 hp on paper, but as we’ve learned with the Honda S2000, you don’t get anywhere near that in real life. So basically, all you’re left with is about 150 hp at the wheel if you’re not thrashing it on the track. Oh dear!

Having learned that Subaru is building both the BRZ and the GT 86 in their factory, and that they were mostly responsible for development of the platform... we’re beginning to become fans of the new Subie instead.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
