November easily turns into the “Concept Month” for most carmakers, after Ford, Volkswagen and General Motors rolled out several concepts showing new features, technologies and systems likely to arrive on their future models. Toyota joined the club today with its own Yaris Five-Door Tailback, a new concept based on the 2009 Toyota Yaris Five-Door Liftback, which is said to “highlight functionality and youthful styling.”

First of all, Toyota enhanced Yaris’ functionality with automated rear suicide doors and rear split tailgate which, according to the Japanese company, were designed with the help of MV Designz.

Besides the body kit, the new Yaris features a center-mounted exhaust system with widened front and rear fender flairs plus a custom hood and a reshaped rear spoiler. “Accompanied by the redesigned body is a set of DPE wheels that feature eleven inch wide rear wheels with a five and a half inch lip and are covered in Nitto rubber, Rotora big brake kit, and Tanabe lowering springs,” Toyota described some of the new parts of the concept.

More importantly, the Tailback concept integrates a compressed natural gas systems, formerly known as CNG, which is said to be more eco-friendly than several mass-production models. “The CNG tank and custom casing is housed in the rear of the vehicle and is unveiled as the rear tailgate is powered open.”

Beside all of these features, Toyota also prepared the car to meet future requirements by integrating popular features such as iPod cables connected to a high-power Pioneer audio/visual system. In addition, Toyota also installed an LCD display for watching movies and videos streamed by an iPod.
