Toyota Builds One Millionth Truck in Texas
“We are grateful for our loyal customers across North America who tell us they love driving Texas-built Tacomas and Tundras,” said Chris Nielsen, president of Toyota Texas. “It makes me incredibly proud of our team members and 21 on-site suppliers every time I see one of our trucks on the road knowing that safety and quality are built into every one of them.”
Toyota production at the San Antonio plant began in 2006 when the Tundra was introduced, while the smaller Tacoma truck was added in the summer of 2010.
For the record: If all one million Tundra and Tacoma trucks built so far in Texas are lined up, they will stretch about 3,700 miles (5,954 kilometers) - just enough to cover the distance between Alamo and Honolulu.
