Toyota considered that the Auris needed to be refreshed in order to remain competitive on the market and what a better time to show that to the world than the upcoming 2015 Geneva Motor Show?

Now, what Toyota has to say about this discrete facelift might raise a few eyebrows, as the car is described as bringing “a design that adds stance and prestige”. In fact, we’ll clear the air for you.

Although changes won’t blow you over, the facelifted Auris received a couple of aesthetic mods which affect the front grille, the headlights (which are now sharper) and the front bumper.

There’s no image showing the rear end, but Toyota designers might have worked a little bit of magic there as well. Don’t expect radical changes regarding the interior, as the Auris’ cabin is set to keep its conventional features.

However, Toyota applied some finishing touches by adding some glossy black accents on the dashboard and changing the air vents. The traditional too school-for-cool clock is now positioned to the right of the touchscreen display and that should be about it, unless Toyota will say otherwise once the Auris facelift will meet the public eye in Geneva.

Engine-wise, Toyota will lay their bets on the hybrid powertrain for the Auris facelift since it accounted for half of all Auris sales last year. No need to worry, internal combustion engines fans, Japanese officials announced the arrival of a new petrol and diesel line-up. All in all, we’ll know more after Toyota debuts the Auris facelift along with its refreshed brother, the Avensis facelift, next month, in Geneva.
