If somebody built a motorcycle that ran on excrement, where would you expect this to come from? That’s right, Japan - Toto, a Japanese toilet company brags that it has created a green motorcycle that runs on poo.
The machine, which uses the Toilet Bike Neo designation and has been in development since 2009, was presented on Thursday in a showroom in Fujisawa.
There are certain things that we need to get straight about this machine. First of all, it is a trike that uses a 250cc engine. It is also very important to tell you that, despite the fact that the rider has to use a toilet seat to move the thing around, there is no direct connection between him or her and the... ahem... fuel tank.
The Toilet Bike Neo runs on what Metro UK calls “ biogas fuel (fertilized, purified and compressed livestock waste and household waste water) provided by the Shika-oi Town in Hokkaido and Kobe city.”
For now, this green machine is just a prototype and it seems like the company wants to bring it into production. What can we say... we're looking forward to seeing the poop-powered trike take part in a typical Japanese gameshow.
