When you say Tommi Makinen, you refer to the winner of 24 WRC rallies during an 18-year driving career, including four consecutive drivers’ titles with Mitsubishi between 1996 and 1999.
So it should make sense to all petrolheads out there that there's nobody better than Makinen at the helm of Toyota GAZOO Racing, because we're sure you found out by now that four-time World Rally Champion Tommi Mãkinen has been appointed Team Principal for Toyota Gazoo Racing’s World Rally Championship campaign.

Among his duties, Makinen will have to oversee preparations of the Yaris WRC for its competition debut in 2017, against the likes of VW Polo R WRC.

But this is not the reason you're here. For some reason - it could be fun or just stretching his muscles - the 51-year old Finn took a Toyota GT86 4X4 rally car for a ride in Finland, on a gravel road.

As soon as you click play, one thing will become obvious: the former champion still has gasoline running through his blood, but also his reflexes and driving skills look in top shape. He even lets the car jump here and there as he attacks the challenging course. It may be due to the driver's expertise, mechanical setup or both, but the rally-converted GT86 looks pretty darn agile out there.

In any case, we expect the Yaris WRC to kick ass, especially since someone with Tommi's expertise is in charge of the car's performances.

The video is posted below, just sit back and watch.
