Tokyo Auto Salon 2013: Toyota Aqua G Sports Concept (Prius C)

The Tokyo Auto Salon is the Japanese equivalent of the SEMA Show. But instead of customizing Camaros and Mustangs, they like to put body kits on hybrids. Tuning a green car might seem like a taboo move, but in Japan, they are so used to hybrids that owning one that’s ‘special’ is important.

Gazoo Racing and Toyota unveiled a special body kit for the Aqua, otherwise known as the Prius C. The hybrid 1.5-liter engine has been left largely untouched, but they just couldn’t resist putting on a sports muffler.

However, the cosmetic changes are striking, starting with brand new front and rear bumpers, plus side skirts and a set of 17-inch alloys with 195/45 R17 tires. We’re especially fond of the huge intake with Audi-style horizontal chrome bars.

As far as the interior goes, the Aqua gets new sports seats, a different trim finish and aluminum pedals.
