The two parents have already taken the first steps to raising £60,000 ($91,122) to pay for their son’s operation at St Louis Children’s Hospital in Missouri. The surgery will help him walk unaided and live a normal life. When Jon’s three good friends heard about their struggle, they decided to turn their road trip into something that could help the cause.

The trio had their classic Minis shipped out to New York this month. Jon’s friends are planning to spend 30 days on this road trip that will take them through more than 20 states before ending the trip in Missouri.

We will be taking on, working on the cars in a massive temperature change as we go round from the cold of Canada to the baking sun of southern USA. Not to mention the frustration and challenges the cars will throw at us. We are totally relying on an enthusiasts’ knowledge of cars and mechanics. And the generosity and helpful nature of the people we meet along the way,” the three Mini heroes that call their mission The American Job explained.

Donations are already on the way on The American Job's website, the same place where they keep updates of their journey. As we are writing this, the folks have just left Jacksonville heading north.

As to the expenses, the three Mini drivers from England claim their savings fund the entire trip, so all the donations will go straight to where it’s needed. The 10,000-mile American Job is aiming to raise £30,000 ($45,561).
