A one-of-a-kind BMW 2002 “New Class” from 1974 will be auctioned this weekend (April 8-10) at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Palm Beach, Florida, for charity.
What makes this pristine-looking 2002 so special, you ask? Well, it's rather simple, since this is not just your run-of-the-mill “Neue Klasse,” but one that was restored and then had its audio bits improved by Clarion through its “Clarion Builds” program.

In fact, it was the very first car built by the audiophiles in 2014, with the restoration bits being taken care of by Coupe King in Los Angeles, a team of BMW experts that weren't at their first rodeo with this kind of project. It's probably safe to say that the result is among their best work, anyway.

Clarion Builds commissioned the restoration but also ordered a couple of upgrades to the drivetrain and suspension to make it drive even better than when it came out of the factory. Some subtle luxurious upgrades in the interior were also added while the electronic upgrades were entirely made by Clarion.

Integrated into the dashboard sits a cloud-connected radio with touchscreen, Bluetooth, and built-in navigation now, while the rest of the interior and the luggage compartment has been augmented with a top-of-the-line Clarion sound system.

The restored and modded 2002 was used on a lot of promotional events and car shows over the course of 2015 and was even awarded the “Petersen Perfection” trophy by The Petersen Museum.

Technically, the car's full name is now “Clarion Builds BMW 2002” and its lucky buyer should know that all proceeds generated from the auction will be donated to the TGEN Foundation to support cancer research.

There is no current estimate on how much it will go for, but considering that you can no longer find a lot of 2002s in the same condition as this one, it should go for a pretty penny.
