Enter the 2015 Sportster 1200 Custom, another nifty addition to Harley’s middleweight cruiser line-up for the next season and why not, for what’s left of this autumn. The new 1200 carries on the features of the 2014 machine, with most of the tech figures remaining unchanged, such as wheelbase, 710mm (27.9”) seat height, peak torque rev point and may more.
The 2015 Sportster 1200 Custom is powered by the same 1,202cc air-cooled Evolution engine which delivers 96Nm (70.7 lb-ft) of torque at 3,750 revs, and whose performance is definitely more appropriate to the 265 kg (585 lb) weight in running order. The 883 has pretty much the same weight but the smaller engine makes it a lazier machine, though a more maneuverable and less intimidating one for riders not fully confident in their skills.

Harley retains the trim of the smaller Sportsters as far as the technical side is concerned, and adds ABS, a smart security fob and minimalist instrumentation to the 2015 Sportster 1200 Custom. The single gauge uses an analog speedometer, aided by a small LCD for revs, gear position and other readings.

The 2015 Sportster 1200 Custom is also offered in two “factory custom” flavors, the XL1200 CA and XL1200 CB, each with works-added aftermarket elements. What’s even cooler is that the CB version introduced all-black wire spoked rims, a truly mean visual addition to the machine. The CA arrives with contrast-cut machined rims, but H-D has not yet announced the base prices for any of these bikes.
