Yesterday, Mazda announced it was going to reveal something via Xbox. Now normally, we would have thought it was another one of their MX-5 special editions for the track. After all, what other car they make can be linked to the world of video games.
But it looks like it might just be the Mazda3, as their popular compact is aching to be revealed. This is the latest photo of the car, which reportedly first appeared on a Russian Facebook page before it was taken down.
So what do we think of this new Mazda3? It looks a lot like the Mazda6 we recently tested, in that it has a rakish rear screen despite being a hatch and sharply tapered side glass. The boot cutting has a hint of Alfa Romeo Giulietta.
The US model will probably continue to offer a 2.5-liter engine and European will get a 1.6 Skyactiv petrol, but we're concerned that Mazda has no small diesels for this car, which could cost them a lot of sales. But, if it's anything as good as the Mazda6 than we are in for a treat.
