Yea it’s a bit hard to look past the appearances, but the guy selling this thing swears it’s built on a Ford Excursion platform. And you can even pull up to any Ford dealership to do the regular maintenance.
JD3 is a company focused on building such monster off-roading machines. The one you see here is called RockZilla and is currently the only one for sale. You can take the donor vehicle to them along with $50,000 to be transformed into a slightly different new one, or you can simply get this one for $72,000.
Along the fun you’ll have on any type of terrain and being at the same height with truck drivers, you’ll get a Ford V10 under the not-hood, mated to an automatic transmission, a 44 gallons fuel tank for a range of over 400 miles, a smooth ride on the interstate, tan leather bucket seats with armrests, military side pods for storage, and all the legal bits and pieces in place.
The owner says it comes with two spare seats and in case you go too hard off-roading and smash the windshield, the car also has a template for that, so you can go make one for yourself. Replacing it pretty simple as the two-piece frame is held on with bolts.
