What you see here is called the BMW Titan and is a concept motorcycle done by designer Mehmet Doruk Erdem. But before you get your hopes too high, this is just a rendering, and there’s no physical model to touch yet.

And I say ‘yet’ because bringing such a motorcycle to reality doesn’t seem such a bad idea. At least for breaking some land speed records over at the Bonneville Salt Flats.

A quick glance at the Titan’s profile will reveal the fact that it was built for speed. Those lines surely do remind of something slippery and fast nature built itself - something like a shark.

Erdem clearly studied a bit of hydrodynamics and took inspiration from the well-known predator when he designed the BMW Titan. You can see that in the streamlined profile shape, the rear wheel that looks like a tail, the pointy front end and even gills on the sides, all theoretically enabling the bike to slip through the air effortlessly.

The body even gets wider at the bottom to mimic some sort of fins to increase stability at high speeds while also offering the rider a place to rest his or her feet. The only things left out are the bike’s controls as there is no visible handlebar, gear shifter or brake pedal, but since this is a design study those would mess with the lines.

As its creator said, the Titan could serve as a land speed record motorcycle but I think there’s room for a street bike too. Imagine a higher ground clearance, no side fins to allow for more tilting and you end up with a nice power-cruiser to battle the like’s of Ducati’s XDiavel.

Or it might as well remain as it is, but with two wheels up front and the engine borrowed from the big K1600 tourers to create the ultimate reverse-trike Batman would be jealous of.
