The 2016 Ford Focus RS is still well within the uber-cool territory, with more and more owners taking delivery of their manic hatches. However, this also means there will be plenty of owners who want to go for more than the standard 350 ponies.
Of course, the aftermarket side of the industry is more than glad to help and we're here to talk about the latest example of this.

Arizona-based Vivid Racing has got its hand on an RS and they have big plans. For starters, the crew decided to go with a custom ECU tune using their VRTune software and the machine's OBD II port.

As you'll get to see in the piece of footage at the bottom of the page, the focus (no pun intended) for now is to improve the 0 to 60 time of the hot hatchback. Come to think of it, you don't get to hear about a development that puts the real world, mid-range boost ahead of everything us, which makes this Focus RS worthy of our attention.

The tech massage obviously kicked off with a baseline dyno pull. The developer got around 280-290 hp, which makes for an approximate 20% driveline loss (this is an all-wheel-drive toy, so there's no reason to worry about that number).

Speaking of mid-range, this project talks about a 3,300 rpm gain that brings north of 40 lb-ft and 25 hp to play with.

Truth be told, most of the tuners that have played with the Mk III Ford Focus RS so far have taken things to around 375 hp. And since this example, which was caught on camera while lapping the Nurburgring, screams like hell thanks to its Milltek exhaust, we'd like to remind you of its existence.

However, there are companies out there who are looking to turn this car into even more of a monster. For instance, we have Hennessey Performance, who hinted at a 500 hp Focus RS. And when a hot hatch comes with Shelby GT350 levels of power, we want to hear more.

So far, the Lone Star State developer has "only" given us a 400 hp RS - here's the tuning tale in case you missed it.

Another example of a 2016 Ford Focus RS that we'll probably get to talk about in the future comes from AMS Performance. The tuning specialist hasn't thrown any teasing numbers at us, but we'll return with more info as soon as we get out hands on it.
