Cleantech Connect Awards is an annual event whose purpose is to get together Europe’s leading companies in green technology as this side of the industry is encouraged to grow each year.

At this year’s awards held in London, THINK has been named “company to watch,” but, on the other hand, it was the only automotive company awarded at the event. THINK has been getting more and more attention since, in August, it got support from Lithium-ion battery maker Ener1, the Norwegian government’s private equity fund, Investinor and Finland’s Valmet Automotive.

In addition to the re-capitalisation, THINK also brought new senior executives to the board of directors and senior management team. A new manufacturing facility for the THINK City Car is also being established at Valmet Automotive’s headquarters in Uusikaupunki, Finland.

It was a real honor to be named as ‘one to watch’ at the Cleantech Connect Awards, especially as the only automotive maker on the short-list. We are delighted to be in such good company – to be named alongside such innovative and forward-thinking winners as ClimateWell, MBA Polymers, Greenroad and Greengrass is a great achievement and an endorsement of our company and its product – the world’s first urban full battery electric vehicle, the THINK City,” said THINK CEO Richard Canny.

Hugh Campbell, Partner at GP Bullhound, added: “The quality of the entrants to the Cleantech Connect Awards 2009 has been exceptional, and it is great to see these European companies leading the way in this fast-growing arena.
