When somebody tells you to get in the back of their two-door convertible, you expect to squeeze past the front seat and into the crammed back. But in Japan… oh Japan, you weird and wonderful place.
Combining the open-air feel of driving in a convertible with the calm, relaxing Japanese onsen hot springs, the Beetyu was born, basically a VW Beetle Convertible with a jacuzzi in the back.

For the launch of the Beetle Cabrio in country, Volkswagen Group Japan organized a caravan event titled “Whatever you wish to do with the Beetle, do it”.

6500 fans of the VW Bug from across Japan were asked to submit their crazy ideas, and a mister Maegawa (see video) said he wanted to drive with an open-air bath in the rear seat of a convertible Beetle. Job done!

Editor's note: Bee-to-ru… say it with me!

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
