The Volkswagen Caddy R Is a Crazy Idea

Earlier today, we told you about VW's new clean and green van, the Caddy BlueMotion. It's fitted with a 1.6-liter TDI engine and has been tuned for economy above almost everything else.
But what if those engineers were on roofies, what if they forgot what they were supposed to do and instead offered us a super-van. Now that would be something to look out for at next year's Worthersee meet in Austria.

Until VW actually makes a crazy van like that, which is probably never, here's a rendering of a Caddy R created by Theophilus Chin. It's actually based on the R line trim package and comes with a full body kit, big alloys and a nice pear-white and gloss black paintjob.

The Caddy has been fitted in the past with a 2-liter CNG engine and various versions of the 1.9 and 2.0 TDI. One fitted with the engine out of the Golf GTI would be nice.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
