The V6 TDI Touareg Goes to The States
- The V6 Touareg will cost about $43000
- Options include Luxury Package, Tech Package, air suspension
- The V10 Tourareg towed a 747 to prove its brute force
| VW Touareg |
The base price is $3,500 more than the Touareg V6 FSI, but the TDI has 150 lb-ft more torque, and slightly less horsepower. Furthermore the new version is more fuel efficient, returning 4.5 more mpg.
Options include the Luxury Package for $2,700, Tech Package for $3,350, and Luxury Plus for $5,400. The rear locking differential is $700, a trailer hitch is $500, and if you want more smoothness there is a four - corner air suspension for $2,750.
As far as invoice pricing is concerned, there is no word about that.
| VW Touareg R50 |
The Touareg is VW's first big 4X4 and it has proved its off road capabilities everywhere, even in the nasty dunes of sand in Dakar. To demonstrate the brute force of their mighty off roader VW made it pull a Boeing 747. Not a toy one, but a real plane, and it did.
The V10 TDI version also got a sporty kit called the R50, and as you can see from this picture of the gauges, it is quite fast. Considering that almost all Touareg versions are 100% off road ready, this isn't a bad car.
Sticking with the story, we think that the Americans will love the V6 TDI and its low to mid range grunt, and we're sure that its more than they ever need... on road and off road.
