If you miss 1970s American station wagons, with wooden running boards on the side, or you are just generally into wood, a Chinese company may be exactly what you are looking for. It is called the Umut, and what it is is a seven-seater MPV-like vehicle, measuring some four meters in length.
Its party piece is the fact that it is entirely made out of wood, which has been hand-crafted to achieve its unique shape. It also has another advantage - if you are ever involved in an accident and then need some body repairs, skip the regular automotive body shops and head directly to a carpenter.
Now, back to the real world. The Umut costs the equivalent of $47,000 (€36,410) and is not road legal. That’s a lot of money to spend on something which can only realistically be used on a golf course - it does reach 60 km/h and can travel up to 150 km before needing a recharge, but the price is way too prohibitive to make it acceptable, even as an amusing toy.
