Yeah, we said converting a classic muscle car to an all electric vehicle basically sucks and kills the car’s soul. But we’re totally cool with doing the same thing to other old heaps, like a classic VW bug for example.
The Bug is considered by many a hippie car, a shrunken VW Camper, so it’s pretty safe if you ask us to transform it into an eco friendly car. That air-cooled flat-four engine surely can’t be considered green by today’s standards. Not to mention the fact that an electric motor can propel the car better than the old 40-ish hp engine.

However, David here in the video says he didn't transformed his classic Beetle into an EV to save the planet, but because he enjoys driving it daily.

So what was wrong with its engine then? Well, as much as he loves the classic Bug, he hates tinkering all day with the unreliable mechanical parts. He basically wanted the cheapest and most reliable way of powering a car and since electric motors only have a single moving part, that's the road he went.

Of course, driving an all electric Bug has more advantages, but those remain for you to discover by watching this nicely put together clip bellow.
