The Real BMW M2 GTS Will Come from Alpha-N Performance and Is in the Works

The guys from Alpha-N Performance definitely didn’t waste a moment after the BMW M2 was unveiled, and they are announcing officially today that an RS version is in the works as we speak. The German tuner even provided a couple of photoshopped images to give us a clue what the end product will look like.

As we expected, the car will be on the receiving end of a thorough aerodynamic package that should enhance not only its performance but its looks as well. It is made up of a new carbon fiber front spoiler that is adjustable and optimized to feed more air to the brakes, to help cool them off.

Furthermore, the sculpted elements on the front bumper and side sills are also made of the lightweight material, as is the four-position adjustable rear wing that can produce various amounts of downforce. That will depend exclusively on the needs of the driver and the track they’re racing on.

One of the most significant upgrades will be a CFRP roof that will be offered in a few weeks, but it will be an extremely hard-to-fit part. This should make up for BMW’s decision to leave the M2 without such a feature, not to become even lighter and thread on the M4’s toes.

Of course, a set of lightweight wheels will also be offered, but this time, they won’t be built by Alpha-N Performance but bought from OZ directly. They will be 9x19 and 10x19-inch rims also known as OZ Superforgiata and you can check them out in the gallery below.

Lastly, we need to talk about the engine. So far, no tuner offered a number for the potential of the upgraded N55 engine under the hood, but Alpha-N Performance is not every other tuner out there. The Germans claim that they can squeeze up to 480 HP out of the 3-liter mill thanks to their chip-tuning box and water-injection kit.

That’s simply mind-blowing and the fact that you get a water-injection kit similar to the one found on the M4 GTS makes this car a possible M2 GTS surrogate. The Clubsport version is even more hardcore, offering you lightweight seats and a roll cage for proper track days. We just can’t wait for this ... monster to come out!
