There has been quite a lot of stir around the upcoming Ducati Scrambler, and it looks like the Italian manufacturer is really looking to revive the classic all-rounder machine with a blend of retro styling and modern technology.
According to MCN, the new Scrambler will be powered by the air-cooled L-twin engine currently on the 796 Monster, so no more thumper scrambling like during then 60's. However, it looks like the Scrambler is going to become a member of the widely-affordable Ducati bikes, possibly in the same range as the 696 Monster.

With the top-end Monsters most likely going for two new engines (821cc liquid-cooled from the Hypermotard and 1190cc from the Multistrada), the prices will definitely go up and enter these bikes in a new range, leaving the smallest Monster and the upcoming Scrambler as the most affordable machines.

With the 696 Monster already being a strong seller, adding a similar machine to the roster is clearly aiming to bring in more new customers who will not spend big bucks on Ducati's top motorcycles.

Though rumors see the Ducati Scrambler showed at the EICMA this fall, there is no certitude we'll get to see it. The photos below are a possible way the Scrambler could look.
