It was 1961 when a certain John Cooper started modifying the legendary classic Minis of the time. This man was so good at his job, the cars eventually started wearing his name as a token of appreciation. Even after BMW took over the British company, his legacy lives on and the most hardcore Minis you can get today have his signature on them under the John Cooper Works badge.
Even the Queen recognized his importance and offered him the CBE (Commander of Order of the British Empire), John Cooper being finally placed amongst those Brits that truly made a name for themselves.

As it turns out, the last car he tuned is now up for grabs as we speak and it’s a beauty by any standard. The 1998 Mini Cooper S has a 1.3-liter MPI engine under the bonnet and was even owned by John Cooper as a matter of fact.

It has just 1,980 miles (3,187 km) on the clock and was built by the legendary man himself from scratch with parts that are unique to it. With 140 HP and padded in Alcantara almost everywhere you look, this is certainly a collector’s item.

That’s if the seller can actually prove that it was owned and modified by Cooper himself. Otherwise, this just falls under the category of beautiful, well maintained classic Minis that are plenty of out there.

The price is not known at the moment but if everything the seller claims rings true, don’t expect this beauty to be cheap.
