While the title may be slightly misleading, it really isn`t. This is a Chevrolet Corvette C4, which has been fitted with a diesel engine, to race in the 24 Hours of LeMons endurange series for cars that cost less than $500.
It is powered by a, wait for it, 77 hp V8 diesel engine, from a 1980s Oldsmobile, and it can be run for up to five hours without stopping - its main party piece. The diesel engine has been tuned to run smoothly on vegetable oil, and it uses a pair of heat exchangers to ensure a constant viscosity for the fuel that enters the combustion chambers. It is first started on regular diesel, then switched to veggie oil.

The car features a full racing roll cage, new front disk brakes, but the owner admits that the actual bodyshell and the roll cage are easily the most valuable pieces of the car. The car is currently for sale, and the asking price is $3,500, and it can be seen in Escondido, California, located just north of San Diego.
