The Amazing ‘Flying Car’ to be Unveiled in June
Carl Dietrich, CEO of Terrafugia, describes the Transition (named ‘The Amazing Flying Car’ by the media) more as a ‘roadable aircraft’, a two-place 115mph airplane with a complex ceiling that upon landing can fold up its wings and transform into a car in just 30 seconds at the touch of a button.
The vehicle will stand as the main attraction of the event, when it will be surrounded by classic Dusenbergs, Aubums, historic racecars, rare motorcycles and classic yachts, such as America’s Cup contender America II.
The 2009 Greenwich Concours d’Elegance will also feature two vintage Detroit Electric cars, a 1991 and a 1974 model, in counterpoint with a new Tesla electric roadster. A circle of Morgans will be marking the 100th Anniversary of Morgan, while MINI USA will be serving complimentary birthday cake to every visitor of its pavilion in order to celebrate its 50th anniversary.
Car enthusiasts will be glad to hear the admission is only $20 per day or $30 for a two-day pass, while children under 12 are free if accompanied by an adult. The Concours is open from 10am to 5pm each day, and parking is free. For more details you can visit the Concours website, www.greenwichconcours.com.
