Tesla Working on Autobahn-tuned Model S
Speaking at a Tesla service center in Germany, Musk said the company’s top engineering team will tune the Model S until it feels “just right for German roads” and “really great at top speed”. He declined to go into specifics, but the upgrade could enable the EV to travel at higher speed on the Autobahn.
The new tuning program will become available on both existing and future Model S vehicles free of charge. No time table was given, but the upgrade should be launched in early 2014.
During the same speech, Musk confirmed Germany will get a Supercharger network consisting of 40 to 50 stations by the end of next year. He also said hydrogen fuel cell cars are “bullsh*t”, a statement that will stick around news reports for a while.
