The second European beach-head that Tesla has on the Old Continent will open in Munich tomorrow, September 10, just five days ahead of the official release of the new tesla Roadster sport. The Munich store is the first in mainland Europe, following the opening of the London-based store back in June.

The Roadster Sport will attend the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show, joining the other electric vehicle the manufacturer prepared for 2010, the Roadster 2. The Sport version of the Roadster achieves naught to sixty acceleration in 3.7 seconds, compared to 3.9 seconds for the standard Roadster.

It has an estimated average range of about 400 km per charge, and it produces zero tailpipe emissions. The sport boast, according to official figures, 15 percent more power than its predecessor and will have a price set in the 112,000 euros range ($128,500).

As for the Roadster 2, it is in fact a revised version of the older Roadster. It features more powerful heating, ventilation and air-conditioning system, more comfortable seats and a more luxurious dashboard and cabin. If there was a need for such a thing, Tesla also made the interior quieter than its predecessor.

The Roadster is quickly becoming the vehicle of choice for discriminating Europeans,” Tesla CEO Elon Musk said in a release. “Many of our customers are die-hard European sports car aficionados who switch to Roadsters over concern about climate change and the dangers of foreign oil addiction. And some customers buy the Roadster simply because it will beat the Porsche 911 or Audi R8 off the line every time.”

autoevolution will be attending the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions.
