Tesla Model S Races another Tesla Model S from the Lights, But Is It Illegal?

Now that Tesla has truly diversified its Model S line-up, owners of various models sometimes want to know how their cars compare. And when they can't wait to take the battle to the track, we end up with Tesla-on-Tesla street racing.

This is exactly what goes on in the video below, which comes as a piece of dash cam footage.

We are dealing with two Model S sedans that find themselves next to each other at the lights. The action took place earlier this week in the Eastern side of London, Ontario.

The pair of Tesla wait patiently for the traffic light to turn green and we have to mention this is one long cycle. Nevertheless, once the red color goes away, the driver of the Black Model S shows a better reaction time.

Still, the reaction time difference seems to be extremely small, while the gap that eventually separates the cars leads us to believe we are dealing with different power ratings here.

Unfortunately, the poor quality of the clip doesn't allow us to focus on details such as the badging. And yes, this is also convenient for the Tesla drivers involved in the high-voltage shenanigan we see here.

The funny Canadian-related part

With all the peace-related stereotypes about Canada, we might just witness a confirmation in this clip. Think about it - the two cars may not have even engaged in illegal activities while having their battle out on the streets. For one thing, they seem to stop accelerating rather quickly, so perhaps they didn't go over the speed limit.

And then there's the sheer idea of racing electric vehicles. From the lack of (direct) emissions to the restrained aural side of the deal, this has to be a... Canadian street race.
