Now that the Ford Crown Victoria has retired, Detroit automakers are fighting to get their vehicles dressed in police uniform. Well, it seems that a newcomer may just get in on the deal. We’re talking about the Tesla Model S, which might become a police cruiser in Silicon Valley.
The city manager of Atheron, California, the place with the most expensive ZIP code in America, recently said he’d welcome a Tesla Model S police car. By the way, the Tesla Model S is a best-seller in the area.
Atherton City Manager George Rodericks told San Jose Mercury News that the Model S is some sort of “hometown hero” in Sillicon Valley, as Tesla is based in Palo Alto and the car is brought to the world in California.
"I probably see a Tesla Model S every day," said Atherton City Manager George Rodericks. "Atherton is 100 percent residential. We don't have any public charging stations. We don't even have a grocery store. But driving around town, you sure do see a lot of them. I'd love to see the Model S be used for Atherton's police cars," Rodericks told the aforementioned source.
There are tons of reasons for which the Tesla Model S police car would be a great idea, especially in Atherton, as pointed out by Motor Authority, who brought the topic under the spotlights.
The Big Three would definitely hate the idea, but the move would, nevertheless, be a step ahead for the US car industry. Just think of the image benefits..
