Tesla Model S P100D vs. Nissan GT-R 1/4-Mile Drag Race Is an Awareness Lesson

It's funny how the Tesla Model S P100D racing videos are a bit like the car itself - it took a while for the clips to show up, but now that they're here, they're planning to take over the final part of the 2016 season.

So after we've shown you the P100D duking it out with a Lamborghini Huracan on the street, as well as at the drag strip, the time has come to switch to another suck-squeeze-bang-blow enemy of the EV and see how the Model S can do when competing against a Nissan GT-R.

Just like in the case of the Palo Alto-Sant'Agata Bolognese battle mentioned above, the fight we're here to show you took place at the Palm Beach International Raceway.

While the P100D is dooh-stock, we can't say the same thing about Godzilla here. That's because we're dealing with a 2013 model year incarnation of the JDM delight, one that has been gifted with a tuning mid pipe and custom ECU mapping.

Given the increase in power Nissan has introduced since 2013, we could imagine the 600+ hp output of this particular GT-R isn't too far from, say... the 600-pony output of the current Nismo. So there's no reason to let the custom tech touches of the Japanese supercar trick you into invalidating this race.

We usually steer clear of mentioning the results of such a brawl, as we don't want to ruin the fun of the video. Nevertheless, this is one of the exceptions, as we're dealing with a particularly attention-challenging fight.

The races mentioned in this article (links included) also have a strong focus on the human side of the adventure. You see, the Lambo in question happens to be owned by a man named Brooks, whom YouTube friends know thanks to his Drag Times label. He used to have a Gallardo Super Trofeo Stradale before upgrading to the also-Rosso Mars dressed Huracan, but guess who's behind the wheel of the P100D.

And while Brooks doesn't own the range-topping Model S (yet?), seeing a die-hard supercar aficionado pulling such electron juice experiments makes enough of a statement.

Note that the guy delivers a near-perfect .060 reaction time, which tops the otherwise respectable time of the GT-R driver. Oh, and you should also keep in mind that the numbers displayed at the end of the race (you know, the ones that matter), do take this into account and should be used to determined the winner.
